Dave Walker with Savoy Brown 1971

Kim Simmonds with Dave Walker
Interview #1 part 1 June 25th, 2010 at Pine Creek Lodge and Café.

Dave: that’s the 2nd gig I did in the United States in August in 71 that was at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium which in those days was one of the cooler places to play. The other guy in the picture is Kim Simmonds. And it was amazing I really enjoyed it, it was really cool.

Eddie: Look at those boots they’re cool.

Dave: In those days I was very cool.

Eddie: Where was the first place that you played in the US?

Dave: Wichita Kansas, a place called Century II Pavilion

And that was interesting too cause we had Atomic Rooster open for us. And the guy playing drums…

Eddie: Carl Palmer right?

Dave; No it was after Carl it was the guy who later on went on to be the drummer in Spinal Tap, Ric Parnell who lives in Missoula now, I spoke to him once on the phone (4 years ago).

Note: Ric Parnell showed up out of the blue that night a few hours after the interview and sat in with the band at Pine Creek.

    Dave DeRooy says:

I’ve been a Savoy Brown fan since 1970 and I have all the LP’s and the CD “Strange Dreams”. The best of all was when Dave Walker was the frontman (Steetcorner Talking, Hellbound train, and Lion Share) Iwas just wondering where DW was these days and it looks like he may be in Montana. At least he’s hanging there and still playing the blues. All of this is very good news to me. I’m not far, I live in Washington state. I might even be able to come watch the band play in the future if I knew ahead where and when they would be performing. If possible I would love a reply with more info on the band and Dave. My best to you all. Dave DeRooy
